I came to DARE
And I didn’t care
I had to share
And had to be fair
I learned to solve problems
When the going got tough
I had to keep paddling
When the water got rough
I lived with six others
And they were not brothers
Sometimes we fought
Our tempers got hot
We both felt wrong
Apologized and got along
And now as I leave
I honestly believe
That DARE was worthwhile.
C.U. - Summer 2002
My Solo
Alone out there, deep in the woods
My thoughts did tend to roam.
And as I thought of peace and love
They slowly turned towards home.
The fire burned, the night went on
My solo was almost done.
A smile then came across my face
For home was soon to come.
Solo, love, peace, and home;
Words that deserve respect,
For with these things not in our lives
I’m sure that we’d regret.
A solo to me is time to think
Of thoughts that touch the soul,
Thanks to those who gave me a chance
And helped me to do so.
