The most frequent job vacancies currently are for Outdoor Recreation Instructors and Irregularly Scheduled Program Support Officers for our Project D.A.R.E. program. All staff must provide job references, a medical and consent to a criminal record check prior to being employed.
Instructors/Residential Care Workers (RCW's) are employees and paid a variable per diem which reflects formal education, Project D.A.R.E. work experience, services provided and level of responsibility. Per diems vary from $110 to $200, resulting in a typical annual income between $34-41,000 plus a generous benefit package. Instructors provide all the direct service programming, including facilitating low and high ropes course and challenge course activities, wilderness expeditions and supporting the school program delivered by the Near North School Board. Instructors are also contracted to design and deliver special programs for schools, eco-tourists and other client groups. Instructors typically possess a relevant college certificate or university degree, Bronze Cross, Wilderness First Responder, F-class driver's license, various certifications (canoeing, climbing, etc.) and experience working with youth-at-risk. If you are well-qualified, enjoy the challenge of working with youth who have very challenging behaviours, and would like to work as a member of a supportive and motivated team - send a cover letter and resume to: jobs@projectdare.com.
Program Support Officers (PSO's) are employees with responsibility to provide security services such as awake night supervision, behavioural intervention, facility security rounds, transporting of students, maintenance and other program support duties. PSO's must possess (or obtain) an F-class license, Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification. On-the-job training is provided. Irregularly scheduled part-time PSO's are paid $12.00 - $13.50/hr., and full time regular schedule PSO's earn $13.50 - $16.00/hour plus benefits.
